The IV50 ventilator comes from Arctica Solar with the 3-wire AC wire harness extending out the back of the unit. This allows for installation to a nearby AC junction box to the AC leads per the installation and owners manual.
However, the AC lead in the unit can be swapped to a NEMA 5-15 plug (a normal AC 3 pin plug) if your installation requires it. We are also happy to perform this adjustment as part of your order, please just contact us before purchase. Follow the steps below to swap your AC lead on the IV50:
1. Remove the metal rear plate held on magnetically.
2. Remove the 4x rear screws.
3. Remove the 1x small side screw.
4. Using a flat head screw drive, carefully slide around the joint between the top and bottom plastic housing pieces of the IV50. You'll hear the occasional snap which is the plastic finger of the housings separating as you go along.
5. Carefully separate the bottom housing part from the top housing part. Place the rubber plug at the bottom entry to the side for later re-installation.
6. At this point you'll see where the provided AC harness attaches to the circuitry of the IV50.
7. Whether you are rerouting the provided AC harness to the rear of the unit, or you are replacing the provided AC harness with a NEMA 5-15 with a bare lead, you can remove the strain relief fitting screws and remove or reroute the AC harness. Shown below is the re-routing of the provided harness to the bottom entry point.
8. Remove the rear wall rubber pass-through grommet and place it around the harness now at the bottom entry. Take the rubber plug that was at the bottom entry and place it in the rear facing hole.
9. Carefully align and snap back together IV50 housing top and bottom. Repeat steps 2 and 3 in reverse to reinstall the screws after the IV50 top and bottom halves are snapped back together.
The AC lead for the IV50 is now coming out of the bottom of the unit, and / or has been converted to a AC harness with a plug on the end:
